STORY…?

Who?

I’m Gary, a full time, experienced and qualified Independent Celebrant.

Growing up in London in the 70s and 80s and being into the popular music scene meant I saw so many bands. Every weekend was spent in clubs like the 100 club or the Marquee. I was a Mod (still am!) or a headbanger, depending on who I was hanging out with!

I have been talking for a living for over 25 years’ is what I say when asked what I do. I studied Theology at university, and I am very interested in all forms of spirituality and celebrate the human spirit in all of its expressions of love.

I have been a preacher, teacher and university lecturer. Working in places such as The House of Commons, Fleet Street, Boarding Schools and traveling all over the world to speak at events means I bring a rich wealth of experience and expertise to your ceremony.

I am a member of the Institute of Professional Celebrants and am fully insured to officiate at your ceremony.

My Qualifications:

Level 3 Diploma in Couples and Naming Celebrancy. (Civil Ceremonies)

Level 3 Diploma in Funeral Celebrancy. (Civil Ceremonies)

CELTA – Teaching English as a Foreign Language

PGCE – Secondary Teaching Religious Studies (Liverpool University)

BA Hons – 2:1 Degree in Theology (Manchester University)

Why?

Because I get a buzz out of celebrating what it means to be human. For me that means Love. Love is what makes us human and your love story is unique and worthy of celebration. So, I want to celebrate your story with you. Simples!

Where?

I’m based in North West England, so most of the wedding ceremonies I conduct happen in and around Cheshire, Merseyside, North Wales and Lancashire. However, I am very happy to travel to wherever your wedding is happening, and I mean wherever! If you’re prepared to pay my travel expenses and accommodation if needed, ‘just call my name, and I’ll be there!’

When?

Once you have decided that I am the celebrant for you, make a firm booking by agreeing with my terms and conditions, pay a deposit and your date will be indelibly written in my diary. I will be there!

What?

What I will do for you:

I will be there on your wedding day. Your wedding will be the only ceremony I do on your big day! You won’t share me with anyone else, so you get to say when and where you want me.

You will get a first meeting with me, where we will discuss your ideas so I can get the ‘big picture’ of your wedding. We will have a chance get to know each other a little bit.

I will give you a questionnaire for you to fill in together (This is great fun and I won’t be there when you do this bit!) all about the two of you and your relationship.

We will have a second meeting (Zoom or Skype) where I read you the first draft of your ceremony script and we will confirm the details of what your ceremony will include.

I will write a unique wedding ceremony script to reflect your love story and all of the things you will have told me about yourselves. This will be edited and shaped until you are both 100% happy with it.

I will help you with writing your vows, if you need me to.

I will give you advice and guidance on readings, ceremonies and other aspects of the wedding itself.

You will have access to me throughout the whole process – I will always be on the other end of the phone or an email if you have any questions, ideas or worries about your ceremony.

We will have a wedding rehearsal (this is an optional extra and incurs an extra charge, venue availability permitting).

I will deliver your ceremony on your big day.

I will present you with a complimentary, personalised Fab Ceremonies wedding certificate and presentation script, if you would like one.

Ready, Aim, FIRE! This is your chance to bombard me with questions and tell me all about your plans. Oh, and to make sure I’m the right Celebrant for you. Just head over to my contact page to get in touch.

Book

Hopefully, I am the Celebrant for you, and you decide to go ahead! Awesome! I’ll send you a contract and take a deposit to secure your booking. It’s now in my diary and seeing as I only ever do one wedding per day, from that point onwards that date is all yours!

Plan

Six months from your big day, I will send you a fun Couple’s Quiz for the two of you to complete together. This will help me understand you both as individuals, what it is you value about your relationship, and why you want to spend the rest of your lives together. Then, we get together for a much longer consultation meeting where we discuss absolutely EVERYTHING, including what the ceremony itself might look like and logistics for the day, like who’s who and who’s doing what?

Write

Now it’s time for me to weave my magic and wax lyrical. I go to work on and craft your bespoke wedding ceremony. You will receive a first draft at least three months before your big day. So, if there are things you want to add or change, well – that’s why you hired me! We’ll rework it until you’re completely happy!

Marry

On the day itself, I’ll be at your venue well before you’ve even put your make-up on! To ensure your ceremony goes as smooth as your dad thinks he is at dancing! I’ll liaise with the venue, the photographer, the wedding planner, any other contributors, and everyone in the wedding party. And finally, I’ll deliver a FAB CEREMONY that will be the perfect start to your celebrations and will get everyone laughing, crying and cheering!
